The Deadline Ate My HomeworkSo yeah...it's crunchtime at (Leander's) work, and that means this week's game isn't ready. Sorry everyone! The next week is probably going to kind of suck for me, but hopefully after that things will be back on track. Game a Week 2: "Breakout" is a stupid game.
What's Going On Here? Once upon a time there was a stick figure who threw a ball, knocked a brick loose in the ceiling, and died. Most agree that this was a bad idea. For those in doubt we have created an interactive simulation of this unfortunate event, so they can try it themselves...without actually dying...we hope. Thank you, Randall Munroe, author of xkcd for releasing your comics with a Creative Commons license. Otherwise, this game, which used so much of the art from comic #347, would not exist because we are too poor to call lawyers about copyrighted material. How to Play The goal of the game is to hit as many of the bricks as you can with the ball without being hit by the falling bricks or letting the ball hit the ground. Move using the left and right arrows. Game over when you run out of either balls or health. Like the real "Breakout," the character is a Sisyphus type hero. The brick wall rebuilds itself every time it is completely knocked down, but we think this is great because it means more points can be had by all. The player also gets a bonus of 25 health for knocking down all the bricks without dying, which is pretty darn cool.If the game won't run, you may need to upgrade to java 1.6 or click on the game before you press enter.
